GENERAL INFORMATION

GENERAL INFORMATION

Asturias is located on the northwest coast of Spain, between the Cantabrian mountain range and the Cantabrian Sea.

Asturias is a relatively small region. This will allow you to cross from one end to the other in just a few hours.  But don’t be mistaken, Asturias has so much to offer that you could spend weeks there being amazed by its beauty.

The most important sights in Asturias are the Picos de Europa and the coast.

The spectacular Picos de Europa National Park, with peaks up to 2,648 meters high and breathtaking views and landscapes, is a great place for mountain climbers, hikers and nature lovers.

There are five other nature parks in the region: Somiedo, Redes, Fuentes del Narcea, Ponga and Las Ubiñas-La Mesa, all equally stunning.

The coastline is also impressive. 300 km long of sheer cliffs, beautiful beaches and small fishing villages.

Asturias has also a rich cultural history that goes back to the Old Stone Age, Celts, Romans and the pre-Romanesque times. The remains from the pre-Romanesque period are one of the landmarks of Asturias.
